Abstract: As digital products become more prevalent within the automotive industry, user experience and usability have become critical factors in developing in-vehicle systems, particularly infotainment interfaces. Testing of these interfaces poses a significant challenge in the conduct and evaluation. The testing needs to evaluate not only the interface's usability but also help to mitigate the driver's distraction factor caused by these systems. In our research work, a novel testing framework for use in simulator-based environments was developed by leveraging human-centered design principles, eye-tracking technology, and novel metrics.
