Abstract: Fast computation of global illumination is one of the most researched
topics in computer graphics. This paper presents a real-time computer
graphics library called mallumo, which achieves global illumination with voxel-based cone
tracing, and its components, namely support for high dynamic range data
stored in voxels, anisotropic filtering of voxels, support for different
cone distributions, rendering of atmospheric effects, and a method for
real-time rendering of volumetric clouds. These components are compared
and benchmarked in various configurations.
