What is the difference between parametric and procedural models? What about simulations? We will first look at different procedural techniques and learn their landscape. Then, we will dive deep into algorithmic modelling. At first I will guide you through basic procedural music creation, which is perhaps easier to grab to basic concepts of formal grammars. We will then make a detour to Blender’s geometry nodes and compare it with my own tool called Michelangelo by writing a few procedural models. Towards the end, we will discuss topics of your interest, novel ideas and open problems.
